This one made me cry...
An apron hangs around her waist, hands firmly, but gently, support the squirming bundle of life in her arms. The home she makes began many months ago. It was birthed in pain, sweat, fear, joy, and love. That work will never end, it will only change shape. She is, in every respect, a home maker.
In my years as a doula, I have had the privilege of watching so many women grow into their role as a home maker. Not a person who cooks and cleans, but the one who nurtures and defends. It is a quest of the highest order.
My thoughts today are also on the loss of an amazing woman, Penny Simpkin. There are few in this world who have done more to help women in their journey to becoming mothers.
Thank you to all the doula, midwives and birth workers who hold the hands of home makers on their journeys.
The prompt for today is "apron."
